Eagle Scout gives time, receives award |

MALVERN - Ever since he was 8-years-old, Matthew Twehous longed to be a boy scout. His mother, Daina, remembers the day her second grade son came home from school and was eager to tell her what happened in class that day.
"He came home with all this stuff and said 'I want to join Cub Scouts!'"
More than 10 years later, Twehous' participation in boy scouts is paying off - literally. The soon-to-be Kansas State University freshman recently received a $3,000 National Eagle Scout Association scholarship. Nearly 2,500 Eagle Scouts applied, but only 12 individuals were chosen for the unique honor.
